 With its bold, black-and-yellow military stripes, the Sergeant Major looks just like a tiny ocean soldier! These brave little fish love guarding their coral reef homes and will fiercely chase away intruders many times their size. When they are busy protecting their purple eggs, they can even change color from bright yellow to a deep, dark blue!  

 Dressed in elegant black and bright yellow, the French Angelfish glides through the water like a fancy underwater movie star! These social swimmers love hanging out in pairs around coral reefs and even act as ocean doctors by picking pests off bigger fish. As brave little underwater cleaners, they will happily swim right up to curious divers to say hello!  

 Glowing with bright yellow and neon blue neon lines, the Bluestriped Grunt looks like a swimming rave party! These noisy fish get their funny name because they grind their teeth together to make loud pig-like grunting sounds underwater. They love to hang out in massive, friendly schools during the day before going on nighttime hunting adventures.  

Wearing a striking outfit of bright yellow and silver with two bold black face-stripes, the Porkfish looks like a tiny underwater bandit! Just like their grunt cousins, these noisy swimmers make a loud grunting sound when they grind their teeth together. Young porkfish also act as helpful reef doctors, picking pesky parasites off the skin of larger fish to keep their neighbors clean! 

 Meet the Mangrove Snapper, a clever ocean ninja that loves playing hide-and-seek! Young fish use tangled mangrove roots as secret underwater forts to hide from bigger predators. As they grow up, these smart tricksters move out to explore deep coral reefs and sunken shipwrecks!  

 Zipping through the water with bright pink and yellow pajamas, the Lane Snapper looks like a colorful speed racer! These clever fish have a fake "eye" spot on their backs to trick bigger predators into swimming the wrong way. They love exploring shallow, warm waters and hanging out around underwater docks, making them super easy for young dock fishers to spot!  

 Flaunting a dazzling outfit of bright pink, orange, and electric blue, the Princess Parrotfish looks like royalty swimming through a coral reef palace! These busy underwater architects use their super-strong, bird-like beaks to crunch on rocky coral, which they then poop out as beautiful, clean white sand. At night they hide in a homemade sleeping bag made of clear slime. 

 Covered in a crazy pattern of neon blue scribbles and black spots, the Scrawled Filefish looks like a living piece of modern art! These goofy swimmers can completely change their colors like a chameleon to blend into the surrounding seaweed and hide from bigger fish. They also have a secret, sharp spine on top of their heads that they can flip up like a switchblade to lock into tiny sholes! 

The Crevalle Jack is the ultimate speed racer of the coral reef! These shiny, silver fish are full of energy and zoom around in big underwater packs like a fleet of fast sports cars. They are super brave hunters that work together to chase after tiny fish, splashing and making the water look like a boiling pot of soup when they eat. 

The Needlefish looks exactly like a silvery, floating toothpick with a big smile! These skinny fish are the ultimate hide-and-seek champions because they swim right at the very top of the water, blending into the bright sunshine so bigger fish can't see them. They have a super long, pointy nose filled with tiny teeth that acts just like a pair of underwater chopsticks to snatch up small minnows.

The Ocean Surgeonfish is the reef's very own little doctor helper! This smooth, blue-gray fish spends all day swimming around munching on messy seaweed, acting like an underwater lawnmower to keep the coral clean and healthy. They have a hidden defense tool near their tail that is as sharp as a doctor's scalpel. Whenever a bully fish gets too close, they just swish their tail to tell them to back off!
